This company has been flying the skies for almost 80 years. Its story contains plenty of ups and downs. However, the thing that stands out the most, especially for an airline, is that not only are they still around, but they are an extremely strong company. There seems to be an increase in passenger flow especially among expatriates. In October 2010, Turkish Airlines announced to the world that it planned on expanding more during 2011. Of course that is great news for this rapidly growing European airline. The Turkish Ministry of Transport released information that the airline would be flying to 11 new destinations as of this year. Starting in March, Turkish Airlines will fly to Shiraz, Iran four times a week. As for the US, in early March we’ll see four weekly flights to Los Angeles, California. This is good news if you are going to the west cost of the US. Other countries include China, Greece, Spain, France and 3 spots in Italy. Last year, in October, 2010, Turkish Airlines and Manchester United, the English soccer team, signed a deal for three years. Manchester United will work with Turkish Airlines for a high tech TV commercial that will introduce the airlines’ new idea for business class travel. Both organizations consider this an exciting contract for a multitude of reasons. The new advertisements will show the team’s best players travelling and enjoying the airline’s business class section.
Turkish Airlines has developed and adopted a new form of travel known as Comfort Class. This class of travel is available on the Boeing 777 planes the company owns. With seats that are just under 46 inches, this makes it a completely new approach to flying in style. Thus, you can either relax in four feet of seat or have plenty of space for anything else you have with you. Boeing 777s are mainly used on long flights, however, because they are large aircraft. If you are a Turkish Airlines Miles and Smiles card owner, then you can convert any miles you have accrued into a seat in Comfort Class. The history of Turkish Airlines, while extensive, shows the airline had quite a few problems at the beginning. There are so many challenges airlines have to resolve that this is not surprising. There have been a wide range of modifications implemented in this airline at all levels. They have learned their lessons well, though, and have come out on top as a powerful company that is capable of adapting. This has been a very small peek into what seems to be eventful and exciting times at Turkish Airlines.
